For this half-day tour, we're taking you to Mareuil sur Lay, the birthplace of the «wines of the Mareuil fiefs of Vendée».
This wine tour will give you a different way to discover the Vendée, and will take us as far as the Chaos de Piquet, an emblematic site in the Yon Valley.
What you need to know:
The white wine «Le Clos des Chaumes» is a blend of Chenin (60%) and Chardonnay (40%).
You can serve it as an aperitif or with grilled fish, but in any case it should not leave your taste buds insensitive.

When you arrive in Mareuil sur Lay, take a moment to visit this charming little town. The town is built around the fortified castle and its church, which is a masterpiece of Vendean Romanesque architecture.
You will then head for Rosnay...
A good place to start is the Clos des Chaumes vineyard at La Tudelière.
The Domaine is run by Fabien Murail, and for me it's a «coup de coeur» address, particularly for its white wines, which I loved. Plan to return to the port at around 1.00 pm after enjoying a good snack (which you'll have brought with you), accompanied as is the custom by the captain's little white wine, kindly offered.

The Jard family took over ownership of the estate in 1948, and since then they have worked tirelessly to improve their production, producing wines of rare elegance.
