For this latest 100 % nature immersion, we're taking you to the Baie de l'Aiguillon sur Mer. This is a remarkable site in the Vendée that will delight all nature lovers.

Located just a few minutes from the campsite, this excursion is the promise of an unforgettable day out.
As usual, to make the most of this tailor-made holiday experience, we're sharing the Sainte-Anne campsite checklist with you.

You will therefore need to plan for :

  • Getting up early and in a good mood
  • Various sun protection products (cream, hat, bob or beret, it doesn't matter what style you wear as long as you're protected from UV rays...)
  • A delicious picnic and plenty of water
  • Everything you need for an afternoon on the beach

IMPORTANT:

You may think this is a joke, that a jumper in the middle of summer is out of place... You'd be wrong, where we're taking you the sea air is fresh and invigorating.

As you can see, we have a number of alternatives on offer for this day of discovery.

The first option is aimed at anglers...

How would you like to cast off and climb aboard the Aphrodite, a traditional fishing boat run by a famous Vendée sailor, the aptly-named André Rossignol?.

Believe us, the Pertuis Breton is his garden, so to speak. He knows all the intricacies and, above all, he'll take you to fishing spots where sea bass, mackerel and other minnows should be biting at your hook.
Strain your ears, as André will give you invaluable advice on the techniques to adopt. And, perhaps most importantly, this trip out to sea, with the good humour of the captain, is sure to be a lot of fun.

Plan to return to port at around 13:00 after enjoying a good snack (which you will have brought with you), accompanied as is the custom by the captain's little white wine, kindly offered.

The second option is for walkers or those who tend to get seasick...

We invite you to discover the bay in a different way. Have you heard of the Pointe d'Arçay?
This 5-kilometre peninsula is home to some exceptional flora and fauna.
A favourite haunt of birdwatchers, this bird paradise is also a feast for the eyes. The landscapes that await you will take your breath away, but they have to be earned...
Wavy dunes harmoniously shaped by the wind, a forest of maritime pines, bewitching sandbanks and this remarkable ecosystem make the Point d'Arçay an emblematic site in the department.

We'd be delighted to hear what you think, because in general, this kind of walk leaves no one indifferent.

Route information :

  • Duration: 2.5 hours one way and 2.5 hours return (you must return by the same route).
  • Distance: 11.9 km
  • Departure : Parking du Puits, La Faute sur Mer

IMPORTANT: be sure to check the tide tables, as this walk is only possible at low tide.

<To explore this nature reserve, you'll have to wait until July, as it is closed to the public for the rest of the year to preserve this treasure bequeathed to us by Mother Nature.

Important: For an exceptional guided tour, remember to book your date with the Aiguillon-la-Presqu'île Tourist Office. ONLY 3 DATES in JULY and AUGUST.

Picnics under the pine trees and relaxing on the beach...

Isn't it said that iodised air gives you a big appetite? If that's true, you should be coming back from these activities with a bellyful of frogs.

Just the thing, as La Faute sur Mer, with its magnificent stretches of sand and maritime pine forest, offers some great spots to spread out a towel and enjoy a picnic.
If you're looking for more comfort, you'll be pleased to know that there are specially equipped areas.

Worth knowing: On Boulevard de la Forêt, between Plage de la Barrique (Rue des Dunes) and Plage des Chardons (Avenue des Chardons), you'll find 25 tables in the pine forest.

Let time pass and enjoy these moments of calm and serenity...

The afternoon will be spent in «warrior's rest» mode...
A magazine or novel for those who enjoy reading, a few swims to beat the waves and invigorate your body, unless you feel like a builder and want to build the most beautiful sandcastle the world has ever seen...
Whatever the case, we're willing to bet you'll find plenty to keep you busy in this corner of paradise.
